Attention has to be earned.
Lou’s approach starts with a simple conviction: publishing something does not mean anyone will care.
An advertisement, website, video, or social post must give people a reason to pay attention. It needs to engage, inform, and entertain while delivering the commercial message. Otherwise, it is easy to ignore—regardless of how much effort or money went into producing it.
That belief shapes his work with decision-makers willing to take creative chances, particularly businesses looking to challenge category leaders. The goal is to find what makes a business worth choosing and express it in a way people will notice and remember.
From global brands to ambitious challengers
Earlier in his agency career, Lou created award-winning work for McDonald’s, Volkswagen, and the American Cancer Society. His McDonald’s work has also appeared in college-level advertising textbooks.
His experience includes branding for Randazzo’s, creative work for the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL, and work for the Miami Manatees of the WHA2, one of Matador’s first clients. For University of Miami Hurricanes Hockey, his work included brand development and photography.
For Integrated Realty of Florida, the creative opportunity began with a business that had no previous marketing. One idea turned photographs of clients’ former homes into personalized keepsake puzzles—pairing a meaningful reminder of a home with a lasting connection to the real estate company.
For Verbatim Americas, Matador’s assignments spanned point-of-purchase materials, collateral, signage, print advertising, video, packaging, trade-show booth design, and photography. The breadth of that relationship reflects something Lou values: client trust that gives creative work room to develop.
Recognition across advertising and photography
Lou’s career includes recognition from Cannes Lions, the ANDY Awards, CLIO Awards, The One Show, ADDY Awards, CRESTA, FIAP, New York Festivals, Graphis, and PRINT Magazine’s Advertising Annual.
In 2002, he served as senior art director on American Cancer Society digital banner work recognized by the ANDY Awards, Cannes Lions, CLIO Awards, and The One Show. In 2024, he served as creative director on a DefenAge digital campaign recognized by the Anthem Awards and Glossy Pop.
His photography has earned recognition from Communication Arts and Capture Coral Gables. He has also served as a CRESTA Awards judge and spoken at Leica Miami.
A creative education that keeps moving
Lou earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Central Florida in 1992 and studied Art Direction and Copywriting at Miami Ad School in 1996. In 2025, he completed graduate-level coursework in AP Art & Design through the University of San Diego.
His continued professional education includes certificates in Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality from MIT xPRO and Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT from Vanderbilt University through Coursera, both completed in 2023, followed by a CIW Social Media Strategist certification in 2025.
Across disciplines and technologies, his standard remains consistent: give people a reason to care, and make the message worth their attention.
